Home Sweet Home

We finally made it. I've unloaded the car, but haven't unpacked yet. The tomatoe plants appear to be in good shape, but one of my front door plants appears very neglected. Hopefully, I'll be able to bring it back to life.

McBarf

Just when things couldn't have gotten worse, we stopped at McDonalds for a (hopefully) final rest stop. I picked up a McFlurry, and Domino and Carolena got apple dippers. Marie got some kind of shake. Not soon after getting on the PA Turnpike, Domino threw up all over herself and the carseat. Wonderful. Will we ever make it home?

Honda Odyssey MPG

Just filled the tank in my Honda Odyssey, and I got over 24 miles per gallon! Nice! Guess that ECO thingy where they cut out half of the valves when I'm not accellerating really does help with fuel efficiency.

Lunch at Appplebee's Again

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
We decided to stop at Applebe's for lunch again because it was so good last time and I still had $3 left on my gift card. I was surprised to find that they didn't have the all-you-can-eat soup and salad like the other place. Weird.

Virginia Safai Park

Saw a sign for the Virginia Safari Park, and decided to stop. Why not? Well, we went to pay, and they said "no dogs, no exceptions". I asked if that was against the law, and the lady said they were pivately owned and won't allow dogs on property, so I turned toward the exit. Marie is calling Canine Partners. CPL said to stand our ground, so we went back to a different teller, but she knew it was us with the dog. We were told again that it was privately owned. Then we were told that if we have the dog in the car that the animals would tear up the car, break our windows, and kill our dog. What kind of animals do they have here that would do that? And has that actually happened before? I think they're full of crap. They said that they have turned other service dogs away and have had the sheriff come out. We decided to leave. I pulled up out of the way, and started blogging. Then some lady came out of the building and told me to leave. I said I would, eventually, and they could call the cops if they want. Then she stared coming closer, so I inched forward so she would think I was leaving, and then I stopped again. She demanded that I leave immediately, so I flipped her off. I pulle forward and stopped again, and then she called in the recruits, so I slowly pulled away. Jerks. I'll have to file a report with the Federal Department of Justice, and possibly sue. -- Post From My iPhone

Not a Good Start

When Domino got in the car and put her styrofoam cup of milk in the cupholder, something punctured the bottom, and milk went everywhere. What a mess. We cleaned up as much as we could. I'm hoping it doesn't smell. And I hope this isn't a sign for how the rest of the trip will be.

Drive Home

Well, it's our final drive home today. Hopefully, it won't be too bad. Will be nice to get home, but not looking forward to the mess that we left there. I hope the tomatoe plants are still alive. (we did have somebody who was supposed to water them every day).

Dinner in Roanoke

We didn't get to our hotel until about 8:30pm. Marie opted to eat some leftovers that we brought along. Carolena is with Mom and Dad. I have chosen to have a late dinner out with Domino. We ended up at El Rodeo Mexican Restaurant, and the food is excellent. I ordered El Favorito combination platter of a burrito and some other stuff, while Domino got a quesadilla with rice. We chose to eat outside, where we saw this gigantic praying mantis. No sure if you can tell from this picture, but it was at least 6" long.

Gas Bird

I stopped to get gas, and the guy at the pump across from me was filling up his pickup with a cockatoo on his shoulder. The bird was wearing a vest. I asked what it was for - he said it was for "poop". I thought it was because the bird was picking at it's feathers. Oh well. I think he tried to bring the bird in to the shop to pay for the gas, but then was told "no birds allowed" because he left, put the bird in his truck, and then went back in the shop. -- Post From My iPhone

Driving Home

The first pit stop we made had a place that sold Georgia Peaches. I stopped in and bought a whole case for $28. I'll be bringing a bunch in for my coworkers and giving some to friends. Probably freeze a bunch, too. For lunch, we stopped at Applebee's. I had a gift card that I wanted to use. I hadn't eaten there in a long time, and I must admit I was impressed. I got the all-you-can-eat soup and salad for $6.99. I had the oriental chicken salad with broccoli cheddar soup, followed by the spinach and shrimp salad with French onion soup. Everything was very good.
